Evolving AI: In an interview Sam Altman says AI is going to be incredibly disruptive for marketing services.
Key Points:
Sam Altman believes AI will do "95%" of the jobs marketing companies do now.
AI will handle marketing nearly instantly and at almost no costs.
He thinks AGI could be here in "5 years, maybe a bit more."
Details:
In a previously unreported quote, Sam Altman says that AI will do "95% of what marketers use agencies, strategists, and creative professionals for today. There's a future where entire agencies are replaced by AI agents fine-tuned on specific tasks. These comments come from a new book where top AI leaders were interviewed, including Sam Altman. He goes on to say that marketing "..will nearly instantly and at almost no cost be handled by the AI — and the AI will likely be able to test the creative against real or synthetic customer focus groups for predicting results and optimizing. Again, all free, instant, and nearly perfect. Images, videos, campaign ideas? No problem."
Furthermore, when asked about when AGI will be a reality, Sam Altman says: “5 years, give or take, maybe slightly longer — but no one knows exactly when or what it will mean for society."
Our Thoughts:
AI is already deceiving people who cannot discern between 'authentic' and generated content. This trend is expected to become more prevalent. We've already seen the first instances of AI replacing marketing jobs, as highlighted last month with Klarna, a major payments company, revealing their AI assistant that now performs the tasks of 700 employees. However, AI typically aims for the middle, making the most likely connections. Great marketing often comes from drawing connections between less obvious elements, a skill that creative minds excel at. AI isn’t built for this... yet.
INSILICO MEDICINE
🔬 Big Step in Medicine with AI
Evolving AI: AI found and made a medicine for a rare lung disease.
Key Points:
Insilico Medicine has made a new medicine with AI, now tested in more patients.
This new medicine fights a rare lung disease, found and made by AI.
AI helps make new medicines faster and cheaper, reaching tests quicker than ever.
Details:
Insilico Medicine has shared news in Nature Biotechnology about a special medicine called INS018_055. This medicine, found and made using AI, is now being tested in more patients for a lung disease. Insilico’s AI platform used lots of data to quickly find and make this new medicine. This is a big deal because it shows AI can really change how we find new medicines, making the process quicker and less expensive. It’s a new way of doing things that could help us fight diseases better in the future.
Our Thoughts:
This big achievement shows us how powerful AI can be in making new medicines. It means we can get new treatments faster and cheaper, which is great news for everyone, especially people with diseases that don’t have good treatments yet. It makes us wonder, what other amazing things can AI help us discover in medicine when AI becomes smarter than humans?
Evolving AI: OpenAI’s Sora story is just starting, and there's much to learn.
Key Points:
Sora's won’t be released “anytime soon”.
Focus is on making it better at creating videos and giving users more control.
Sora aims to change how we make and think about videos with AI.
Details:
OpenAI's new project, Sora, is still being worked on and not ready for everyone to use. The team is looking at how to make the videos look more real, like getting hands right and making movements look natural. They are also thinking about letting users have more say in how videos are made, and maybe adding sound. The big dream is to make videos that look just like real life. This could make creating videos much cheaper and allow for new kinds of stories that we couldn't afford to tell before. OpenAI wants Sora to be a step towards machines that can understand and show the world just like humans do. But there's still a long way to go.
Our Thoughts:
OpenAI's Sora demonstrates the increasing caution companies are exercising in developing new AI tools. As AI becomes more mainstream, there's a growing emphasis on responsible creation and release of these technologies. Sora could introduce new avenues for storytelling and sharing ideas, thanks to reduced costs. However, these lower costs also raise concerns about job displacement, as many roles may become unnecessary or replaced.
OpenAI's Sora team: Sora will not be available for public use any time soon
